Both size and prices of external HDD drives have dramatically decreased in the last few years.
Less than a year ago, a Seagate 1 TB drive cost more than $100 and was bulky with a separate power supply.
Today, a 1 TB Toshiba Canvio 2.5″ drive is available at a lower cost and is very light and compact. It does not need a separate power supply.
If you have been using computers for a very long time, you collect a large number of CPUs. While the motherboard and other components can be sold , selling hard disks is risky as they may contain confidential data which can be misused at a later date. Most motherboards + CPU stop working after some time.
To read the data from old hard disks, SATA / IDE to USB converters are available . The prices of these converter sets start from $10.
I am planning to purchase a Netbook, but am looking for one with a built in modem so that I can use the dial up connection wherever I go. One Acer model was advertised with an internal fax modem, but was the supplied model the same?
